Colliding LDN: Reanimation

Colliding Lines launch a new, bi-monthly night of live art, sound and vision, presenting experimental collaborations and post-label projects from select performers.

We begin with Reanimation: a live re-scoring of Soviet-era cartoons and surrealist animations by four different artists.

The programme features two shorts by master animator Andrei Khrjanovsky, as well as alternative tellings of Hans Christian Anderson's The Little Mermaid and Ray Bradbury's cold war fable There Will Come Soft Rains.

Polbrone is the project of brothers Andrea and Simone Salvatici (Clorinde). Their music fluctuates between musical improvisation, sound exploration and evolving drones. Polbrone like contrasting effects, melodies that gradually destroy and decay, and combining acoustic instruments with digital processing. This evening the brothers are joined by cellist, improviser and serial collaborator Derek Yau.

Ingrid Plum uses her voice with extended technique, improvisation, field recordings and electronics to create layered soundscapes, spoken word and songs. Having performed and exhibited installation sound art and visual art since 2002, she creates work that sits between sound art, improvisation, multi-media installation, neo-classical and contemporary Nordic folk music.

Echo Trails are a female-fronted five piece based in London and Cambridge. Taking inspiration from the grooves of bands such as Portishead and Hidden Orchestra and blending these with post-rock textures, the band create minimalist, orchestral atmospheres and vivid post-folk noise.

Kyriakides are brothers Reuben and Jacob Kyriakides. Together they use live instruments, manipulated field recordings and found objects to create expansive, enveloping soundworlds - varying from ambient, jazz-influenced soundscapes to glitched avant garde techno. The brothers are frequent collaborators with the foreign genres of contemporary dance, film composition, experimental literature and art installation – accompanying, interpreting and shaping other artforms as ably as they do their own.

The evening concludes with a feature performance from Echo Trails, performing songs from 2016's EP 'In Limbo' alongside as-yet unreleased new material.
