Gig Description

£4 on the door.

After an enforced split last year, critically acclaimed Alt-Rock band, The Microdance is back.

Come join us for what will be a massive celebration. TMD will be playing some old favourites, some stuff they've recorded since the split and some brand new stuff - including the single that will be released in conjunction with the gig.

We've added two exceptional artists, When The Sun Hits and Daniel Land, to make this a night of true sonic wonder!

The Microdance:

Former TMD member and super duper mega pal, Bridget Walsh - Miss Bridget Walsh will be joining TMD on stage for a few songs.

"It's all packaged seamlessly, not sounding like any other band making music. What The Microdance does is totally spellbinding." - Noisey

"Frighteningly brilliant; even at its heaviest, The Microdance is like the caress of that perfect lover you'll never have. 20 years ago, The Microdance would have been huge. That's not because their music sounds dated, it's because not many crave music of this weight, power and convincing emotional delivery anymore. A band that find that rare place in my heart that will see me come back for more for many years to come" - Pigeons and Planes

"If a group of maybe one hundred of the best music-related writers in the world got together and put their collective thoughts down on paper, then they might be able to generate a review worth reading about this album, but no one mortal is capable of reviewing this on their own." - Raised By Gypsies

when the sun hits:

When the Sun Hits formed eight years ago during a time when the members were part of different projects (Model Morning, Spotlight Kid and recently reformed Six.by seven). They came together to put ideas down that didn’t fit in their own bands and after recording six tracks in a couple of days the project went down the back of a large sofa only to resurface in 2016. The band are now together full time with an EP just released through shoegaze hoarders, Saint Marie Records and a debut album is due out in early 2018.

When The Sun Hits - expect sweeping reverb and delay drenched sounds, attacking wall of sound, distortions, chorus and a soundscape that nods at the predecessors but doesn’t bow at their feet.

‘The potential is mindblowing’ Dean Jackson
there is definitely something special about this band, and their emersion marks some perfect timing; we have been needing to see more shoegaze bands like this pushing through and get the recognition that seems to be missing.” Mark Moore - Contact Music

Daniel Land

As the leader of the Mancunian band The Modern Painters, and now as a solo artist, Daniel Land has developed a unique blend of shoegaze and confessional song writing. His first album of songs, 'Love Songs For The Chemical Generation', was called "One of the finest shoegaze tinged, ambient guitar records of its time" by Drowned In Sound, and it's single 'Within The Boundaries' was described as being "Like Slowdive reimagined by Phil Spector" by the NME. The album is now widely considered to be a cult classic of the shoegaze genre, and the kind of music that, in the words of BBC Radio 1's Rob Da Bank, "You can't help think the late John Peel would have loved". Daniel's fourth album will be released in the Spring of 2018 and he joins Goodsouls for a special solo performance of some of his newest songs, along with some old favourites.
